Start with some easy guitar songs impress your friends and family!
Easy guitar songs- Hmmm. What maybe easy for me is hard for you and vice-versa.
I'll keep this simple for the beginning guitarist. The key is to start with the easy major chords such as E,A and D. After all most guitar songs (most songs for that matter) are written in a I-IV-V format. (see
here
for info)
In other words most songs comprise of three basic chords. Check out

Get comfortable with playing the chords. Play them cleanly with no string buzz.
After taking guitar lessons for a while, I wanted to start playing guitar songs that I knew. The trouble was, since I was taking lessons from a teacher, I learned the songs he was familiar with. So even though I was playing the chords cleanly, I didn't have the feel for the song. It sounded stilted and mono-tone.
But still, practice, practice and more practice! I kept at it and over time I learned enough theory to start figuring out the songs I really wanted to play.
It's hard to recommend easy guitar songs because of so much variation in taste. So, Ill give you a little taste of what I like...
* Iron Man- Black Sabbath (if your a Sabbath fan, after you get the hang of playing, every song of theirs is somewhat easy!)
* Wild Thing- Jimi Hendrix (one of his easier ones considering how far ahead of the planet he was, and still is!)
* Horse with No Name- America (like only two chords, but what a great song)
* All right now- Free (A Paul Kosoff gem, learn it, NOW)
* Holiday- Green Day (a great song with a lot of power chords)
* Pretty Fly for a White Guy- Offspring (another great power chord song)
Anyway I could go on forever with my easy guitar songs. I want you to go out and start your own list of songs.
Load them on your computer or music player and get to work. I want to see you on you-tube or better yet, on stage!
